Cookie Policy

This site sets as little as it can get away with. Nothing optional is stored until you press Accept.

Strictly necessary (always active)

These are stored in your browser's local storage rather than as tracking cookies, and exist only to make the site behave:

bb-cookie-consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined, so we stop asking.
bb-theme — remembers whether you chose the dark or light reading theme.
bb-reactions — remembers which articles you have already rated helpful or not, so the buttons show your own answer back to you instead of asking again.

None of these is a tracking cookie and none identifies you. Your consent choice and your theme never leave your browser at all. A reaction is the one exception: pressing the button sends which article and which answer, and nothing else — the local key exists so we do not have to ask you twice.

Analytics (only after you accept)

Measurement on this site is cookieless. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights record page views and loading times without writing anything to your browser and without an identifier that follows you between sites. They still wait for your answer: press Decline, or ignore the banner, and nothing is sent at all.

Google Analytics 4 is wired in but carries no measurement ID at present, so it does not load and sets nothing. If it is ever switched on it sets its own cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*), governed by Google Consent Mode v2 and denied by default.

Amazon

Clicking an affiliate link takes you to Amazon, which sets its own cookies under its own policy so it can attribute the referral. That happens on Amazon's site, not ours, and only if you click.

Changing your mind

Use the Cookie Preferences link in the footer at any time to bring the banner back and switch your choice. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which resets everything including your theme preference.
