Privacy Policy
Beans & Barista ("we", "us") operates beansandbarista.com. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it. The short version: we run analytics only after you agree, we don't sell anything about you, and there are no user accounts.
What we collect
Analytics (only with your consent)
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which articles are read and how people arrive, and Vercel Speed Insights to see how quickly pages load for real visitors. Neither sets a cookie or stores an identifier in your browser. Both are switched off until you press "Accept" on the banner: if you decline, or ignore it, nothing is sent at all. Vercel receives no page views from you in that case, not a reduced set.
Google Analytics 4 is wired in but carries no measurement ID at present, so it does not load and sends nothing. Should it be switched on, it runs under Google Consent Mode v2 and stays fully denied until you accept, and this page will say so without the qualification.
When granted, GA4 may process: pages viewed, approximate location derived from a truncated IP, device and browser type, referring site, and time on page. We do not use it to identify individuals.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. This is necessary for the site to operate safely and does not depend on consent.
Email you send us
If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and to keep a record of corrections. We don't add you to any mailing list from that.
What we don't do
- No user accounts, passwords or profiles.
- No payments are taken on this site — purchases happen on the retailer's own site.
- We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
- We do not build advertising profiles about you.
Third parties
Some third parties receive data when you use this site. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google (Analytics) — only after consent.
- Amazon — when you click an affiliate link, Amazon receives the referral and applies its own cookies under its own policy. We never see your order details, only aggregate commission reports.
- Vercel — hosts the site, serves every page and keeps standard access logs. Vercel also provides the two measurement tools below.
- Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights — only after consent. Both are cookieless: they record page views and page-loading timings without storing an identifier in your browser, and neither is loaded into a report unless you pressed "Accept".
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing analytics consent is immediate: use the Cookie Preferences link in the footer and choose Decline. For anything else, email contact@beansandbarista.com.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying coffee equipment and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.
